Book Cover Design

Conclusion Question

1. What book did you decide to redesign the cover for? Why did you choose this book?

I decided to redesign the cove of Cinderella. I chose this book because I thought it would be cool to redesign one of my childhood movies and I wanted the challenge to make the design.

2. What parts of the plot did you use as inspiration for your book cover design?

The plot that inspired the book cover design was when Cinderella leaves the ball and her glass slipper falls off. Also, another plot is when the godmother helps Cinderella look beautiful for the ball.

3. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to create this project in Photoshop. Use complete sentences. Try to recall as many of the different tools, processes, and keyboard commands as possible.

First, I made a mood board to collect ideas and inspiration for my book cover. Next, I went to Google Classroom to download the book cover template. I opened up Adobe Photoshop and placed my template. Then, I looked up a font for my tile and an image I could use for my cover. During the bell ringer, we wrote information about the publisher and a description about the book. I put the publisher's information inside of the back flap and the description on the back cover. Also, I looked up a quote from Cinderella and added the quote on the front flap. Finally, I added all my images and tried to make them all blend together to see if they all looked good together. Also, I saved it as a copy, Photoshop PDF, and turned it into my best work. For my cover mockup, I went to Google Classroom, downloaded the mockup, and added it to Adobe Photoshop. Then, I went back to my book cover and exported it, I only selected the front and back cover and saved it. I went back to my mockup placed my front cover on book 1 and placed the back to book 2.

4. What was the easiest and what was the most challenging part of creating your cover?

The easiest part was finding the information about the publisher and writing about the book description for the back cover. The challenging part was finding images and fonts to tie the whole book together.

5. Based on the learning target, "Students will redesign a cover for a famous book that appeals to a modern literacy audience by developing, proposing, and refining artistic ideas, plans, prototypes, and production processes for media arts productions.  " what level of mastery does your project demonstrate (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding). Why do you think so? Make sure to provide specific evidence

I think met the goal of this project because I really tried to understand the ideas and the contexts for designing a book cover. Also, I brought all my ideas and creations to put this book cover together.
